Unimaginable decision for her brave grandmother to make on her behalf. Not yet a century ago, that history resides in our cultural consciousness. May we always remember their sacrifices in hopes they will never be necessary again!

Kate, I am so glad you are helping these last survivors tell their stories. This one is deeply moving. I lost my dad last December—he was 96. He and my mother were British so I have roots that are entwined around WW2, and all the stories of wartime. Dad was conscripted after the end of the war and his army unit was sent to Germany where he spent 3 years including time at a concentration camp. He would talk about any part of his life but not that time. I read that Allied troops were assigned to dig up mass graves for proof of war crimes and I can’t even imagine what he saw. It is vital that we continue to recount these experiences, where the survivors have been brave enough to share. I so appreciate what you are doing!

Thank you. That really means so much to hear. Having visited those camps in Germany and Poland and seen images and footage of those mass graves, to witness it first hand, I can't even imagine what your dad experienced. I passionately believe we must take every opportunity to share these survivor stories while we still can x
